Six grassroots sports groups supported by our Health & Wellbeing Fund

In 2022, Art Invest and Decathlon UK set up a Health & Wellbeing Fund for Canada Water. The aim is to support local organisations and initiatives that bring sport to the community.

Now in its second year, we’re delighted to announce the successful applicants for 2023.

The Fund welcomed many excellent applications from various sports clubs and groups in and around Canada Water and Rotherhithe. After careful consideration, we’re pleased to award funding to six organisations. The successful organisations offer a range of activities, including rowing, tennis, cricket, and boxing, all of which are free of charge and have a focus on supporting and encouraging participation of women and girls.

  • Millwall Community Trust: to provide weekly football sessions for the community, specifically focusing on girls-only sessions to encourage girls’ participation in football.
  • Southwark Park Cricket: to provide weekly cricket sessions that encourage women and girls to play cricket with qualified female coaches, a development plan and access to equipment.
  • London Youth Rowing Club: to continue its Active Row London Programme in Southwark and encourage young people from under-represented groups to take part in rowing.
  • Roosters Boxing Club: to provide weekly boxing training for children and women in Rotherhithe.
  • Southwark Park Association 1869: the Fund will continue to support the Youth Tennis Club in its second year providing weekly tennis coaching sessions and access to equipment to 7-13-year-olds.
  • The Dockland Settlements: the Fund will also contribute £10,000 to create a 5-a-side astroturf pitch at their community centre in Rotherhithe.

Delphine Mazillier, Decathlon UK Corporate Social Responsibility Leader:
“Decathlon’s mission is to move people through the wonders of sport. For decades we have worked hard to make sport more accessible to all, and doing so in local communities has always been a priority. I am so proud to be entering our second year of working with Art-Invest to support six wonderful charities in and around Southwark. I can’t wait to see the impact this funding will have as we endeavour to bring sport into the lives of many underrepresented groups.”

Luka Vukotic, Partner, Art-Invest Real Estate:
“Our joint Health & Wellbeing Fund is quickly establishing itself as a valuable local funding source. We have been pleased to see so many local groups and community organisations dedicated to encouraging active lifestyles and providing free access to sports. This year, there was a clear demand for engaging women and girls in physical activity. We hope that the programmes we are supporting can offer positive momentum in encouraging female participation in the local area. Supporting the creation of local connections and a thriving community is all part of our commitment to the local area as we bring forward Canada Water Dockside, a new hub in London to work, socialise and visit.”
