London Marathon fans descend on Dockside at Decathlon’s fan zone

The London Marathon is one of the most exciting and anticipated annual sports events in the world, with the eyes of the world on the more than 50,000 runners that take on the epic challenge of running 26.2 miles through the streets of the capital. 2025’s marathon fans got a closer look at the rejuvenation of Canada Water, as they enjoyed cheering on the runners from Decathlon’s new mile nine fan zone.

Spectators were invited to enjoy unbeatable views from this new viewing destination, located behind Decathlon’s flagship store, and under the spring sunshine energy was high and an impassioned crowd motivated passing runners, with more than 400 clapper banners handed out as people cheered on friends, family and smiling strangers.

There were also opportunities to win great sporting prizes, and even check out the latest KIPRUN running shoes available in-store — for those inspired to sign-up for next year’s marathon — while the fan zone team handed out more than 450 nutrition samples to an impressive crowd of supporters who brought a contagious positivity to the whole experience.

With two great spots for marathon-watching, Canada Water is already a popular destination for sports fans, and as the newly redeveloped neighbourhood continues to emerge across British Land’s masterplan, it is becoming an entertainment and sports destination well-worth the visit.

This weekend’s visitors were able to enjoy great food, views and essential amenities at the newly opened, multi-use culture and hospitality venue Corner Corner, while the Rotherhithe Peninsula’s wealth of both indoor and outdoor sports and leisure facilities make it the perfect place to reconnect with mind, body and nature.
